Recently Hamid al Ahmar was asked for his opinion on the former exiled leaders Ali Nasser Mohammad, Ali Salem al Bayth and Haider abu Baker al Attas:
“A good thing happened from tolerance and reconciliation in the southern governorates, and I salute President Ali Nasser Mohammad and the Brother Professor Ali Salem al Bayth for their embrace of the movement for tolerance and reconciliation. This is what we hear from Ali Nasser and al Bayth, that the former leaders are behind it.
Asked as to what he thought of the return of the exiled opposition leaders, Hamid al Ahmar responded diplomatically:
“President Ali Abdullah Saleh called on them to return to Yemen. As for President Ali Nasser, as well as Brother Ali Salem al Bayth and Haider Abu Baker al Attas, there is no objection to their re-entry into Yemen. We do not know the accuracy of the information that is circulating about a Presidential directive on the rehabilitation and home restoration of al Bayth and Haider al Attas., and whether this is a true indicator of a good welcome. I think that if al Attas and al Bayth return, this issue will not happen accept in accordance with mechanisms designed to end the current tension.”
