Arab Journalism Union calls on Yemen to stop trials of journalists
The Arab Journalism Union in its annual meeting held in Cairo called on the Yemeni authorities to close the files of the trials of journalists of whom is the al-Shoura newspaper editor-in-chief Abdul Karim al-Khaiwani.
The union has expressed support to the efforts of the Yemen Journalist Syndicate demanding a new journalism law to protect the freedom of speech.It expressed concerns over restrictions of journalism in most countries of the Arab World, affirming the freedom of journalism is a part and parcel of public rights that shouldn’t be breached by governments. It also called for amending the legislations of journalism to free the profession of journalism from all chains.
