Radfan Update: Wounded Soldier Dies

A soldier wounded in the Radfan fiasco has died in Sana’a of wounds sustained during the violence.

توفي متأثراً بجراحه أمس في صنعاء أحد الجنود الذين كانوا يؤدون عملهم بالدورية العادية بعد ان تم الاعتداء عليهم من قبل مجموعة من الخارجين عن القانون في منطقة ردفان مساء السبت

وكان ثلاثة مواطنين لقوا مصرعهم وأصيب تسعة آخرون في حادث إطلاق نار من قبل عناصر خارجة عن القانون بمحافظة لحج عصر السبت أثناء قيام دورية بأداء واجبها الأمني في مديرية الحبيلين بالمحافظة حين تجمع عدد من الأشخاص معترضين تلك الدورية عن القيام بواجبها

وبحسب مصدر مسئول بوزارة الداخلية فإنه أثناء محاولة الدورية تفريق تلك المجاميع أقدمت عناصر مدسوسة على إطلاق النار مستهدفة أفراد الدورية والمواطنين بهدف إثارة الفتنة وزعزعة الأمن والاستقرار, مما اضطر الدورية إلى الرد على تلك العناصر التي لاذت بالفرار

Soldier injured at protest died at hospital

A soldier injured in a protest in Radfan district of Lahj last Sunday died at a hospital in the capital Sana’a Tuesday, security source said.

The source who announced the death revealed for the first time that casualties at the latest clash between riot police and protesters in Lahj last Saturday included one soldier who died Tuesday out of severe wounds.

Three people were reported killed and nine injured at a rally in Lahj last Saturday as hundreds of people took to the street against rising prices. Opposition parties said four citizens were killed and 15 injured at the protest which organized a day before celebrating the 44th anniversary of 14 October Revolution in southern Yemen to protest “price hikes and injustice against people in southern Yemen”.

On the other hand, head of the office of the General People’s Congress party in Lahj Mohsin al-Naqeeb visited Radfan and met with lead social figures and security officers and discussed with them problems of people and means o solve them.

The official website almotamr.net said al-Naqeeb discussed with officials in Radfan “the reasons of sorrowful incident” and announced that injuries will be treated at the expense of the State. It said that victims will be considered martyrs and their families will receive the state’s extensive care.
